ABOUT GRACE

LEADERSHIP

APOSTLE SAMMY C. SMITH

Senior Pastor & Founder

Apostle Sammy C. Smith was born in 1957 to Deacon Sam and Mother Dorothy Smith. From an early age, God’s hand was evident upon his life—shaped by the faithful prayers of his mother and the unmistakable call to ministry revealed by God Himself. Apostle Smith carries a God-given vision to pastor thousands, evangelize millions, and reach billions for the Kingdom of God by impacting homes, neighborhoods, communities, cities, counties, states, regions, nations, and ultimately the world.

Apostle Smith attended the University of South Carolina, Sumter Campus, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. His prolific preaching style and prophetic insight have established him as one of the most sought-after evangelists throughout the Carolinas and across the United States.

The vision to build a ministry that would glorify God was first manifested during a Gospel Service held at Shaw Air Force Base in November 1984. Many souls were saved and brought into a greater awareness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As a result of his unwavering commitment to God, the ministry experienced continual growth. By April 1987, the ministry outgrew the Shaw AFB chapel and relocated to downtown Sumter, becoming Grace Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with an active membership exceeding 300 adults.

In May 1991, the ministry moved to 307 West Oakland Avenue, and in October 1999 transitioned into a new edifice at 60 Oswego Road. This significant move marked the emergence of Grace Cathedral Ministries.

Apostle Smith is a respected conference speaker who has conducted revivals and seminars nationwide. His unique preaching and teaching ministry brings revelatory insight to the Body of Christ under a strong prophetic anointing. As he sought the direction of the Holy Spirit, Apostle Smith began providing spiritual leadership and covering to pastors of multiple churches. These relationships led to the birth of Grace Cathedral Christian Fellowship.

The consecration and ordination service of Grace Cathedral Christian Fellowship, held on Saturday, October 26, 2002, marked the beginning of a new movement and established Apostle Sammy C. Smith as its founding Bishop.

In 2006, God expanded Apostle Smith’s vision further with the birth of Grace Cathedral Ministries of Greenville, South Carolina. The first service was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel with more than seventy-five individuals in attendance. As God continued to pour out revelation, the ministry was blessed with its first edifice at 710 South Pleasantburg Drive. In less than two years, the ministry outgrew that location and moved to its current facility at 200 Assembly Drive, Piedmont, South Carolina.

Apostle Sammy C. Smith is truly a man after God’s own heart and remains steadfastly committed to the mission of “Reaching the Lost at Any Cost.”
